"SAY WHAT?...
THE PRIDE IS  BACK!"
-Coach Craig Cason~circa 1991

The 1991–92 Morehouse College Fighting Maroon Tigers football teams exemplified resilience, grit, and unwavering determination. In this HBCU story,  journey into the heart of a Division II football program that transformed years of challenges into historic triumphs. These student-athletes carried the torch, and spirit of the teams and coaches who laid the foundation throughout the 1980's era, striving for excellence since the program's last championship in 1979. In 1991, after enduring a character-building season (1-7-1) the previous year with the theme "Mo Betta makes it Mo Betta". The 1990 season ultimately gave  the Tigers the "blues", and the team finished in last place. The Fighting Maroon Tigers roared back the next season  becoming co-champions of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) with a record of 6-4. That magical season in 1991 also marked a milestone: Morehouse College earned its first-ever national ranking
(# 16 Division II) in the college's football history, rallying behind the powerful theme—“The Pride is Back!”
The momentum continued into 1992, culminating in a legendary and hard-fought victory over Howard University in the now-famous “Monsoon Game”—a defining moment at the beginning of a second consecutive winning season (6-5) and further cemented the legacy of a team that refused to be forgotten. Since that time we have mourned the losses of teammates, coaches, supporters, and friends early in life as a result of various health challenges. This book in the 'new era' intends to honor those we've lost- in a story that will remain-"True Forever".

This upcoming book and documentary aim to honor the journey from adversity to achievement, highlighting fallen teammates and friends posthumously not only for their on and off the field successes, but also addressing health challenges which disproportionately affect us all, and may have caused their untimely deaths as black men. Proactive solutions regarding these challenges will be discussed  to inspire readers towards maintaining  our health in mind, body, and spirit.. By sharing this HBCU story from the student-athlete paradigm during the beginning of the post “School Daze” era,  and the golden age of hip-hop we hope to keep the spirits of our fallen teammates and friends alive, and inspire future generations to pursue excellence, regardless of ANY obstacles they may face.
